Teazle (Dipsacus fullonum) is a spiky plant used in traditional and folk medicine, most notably as a tincture marketed for Lyme disease and for joint pain and skin problems. There is very little high-quality human research to support any of these uses, so its benefits remain unproven. About Secnidazole

What Is Secnidazole Used For?

Brand name: Solosec

Solosec (secnidazole) oral powder is used to treat two distinct infections. The first is bacterial vaginosis — an imbalance of bacteria in the vagina — in female patients aged 12 and older. The second is trichomoniasis, a sexually transmitted infection caused by the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis, in patients aged 12 and older.

Because trichomoniasis spreads between partners, sexual partners of infected patients should be treated at the same time to prevent reinfection. Solosec should only be used for infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria or the relevant organism — using antibiotics unnecessarily can lead to drug resistance.
