Here's the simple version: this interaction works the other way around from what you might expect. The concern isn't that your Invokamet XR (canagliflozin plus metformin) affects the thyroid extract. It's that taking pills together in your stomach can block the thyroid hormone from being absorbed properly, making it less effective. Your diabetes medicine is not a prodrug, and its blood-sugar lowering shouldn't change here.

So the practical move is timing. Thyroid hormone likes an empty stomach, so spacing it well away from your Invokamet XR (and from any calcium, iron, or antacids) helps. This is a minor, easily managed issue, but since over-the-counter thyroid extract is unpredictable, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before mixing these.
