Here's the gist of what's on file for this pair: when you take a thyroid extract product (which acts like a thyroid pill), other oral medicines and certain foods in your stomach can change how well that thyroid hormone is absorbed. The interaction is really about protecting the thyroid side of things, not about altering your Vraylar. Cariprazine isn't known to bind up thyroid hormone or block its uptake, so there's no strong reason to expect your Vraylar to become more or less effective here.

The simplest fix is timing. Take your thyroid extract on an empty stomach, then wait a bit before your cariprazine and any food, calcium, or iron. That said, because over-the-counter thyroid extracts aren't standardized, I'd really run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Cariprazine Used For?

Brand name: Vraylar

Vraylar (cariprazine) is approved to treat schizophrenia in adults and teens 13 and older, and to treat acute manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder in adults and children 10 and older. In adults, it is also approved for depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder (bipolar depression).

Additionally, Vraylar is approved as an add-on therapy alongside antidepressants for adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) who need extra help beyond their current antidepressant alone.
