Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
Oral Drugs
Why this applies to Mitoxantrone
Mitoxantrone falls under Oral Drugs — the group Thyroid Extract interacts with.
Well-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pairing. The interaction on file is really about thyroid extract's own absorption, not about changing how mitoxantrone works. Thyroid hormone is best absorbed on an empty stomach, and food or certain minerals can bind it and lower how much you take in. Mitoxantrone, on the other hand, is given as an infusion into a vein by your care team, so it skips the stomach entirely and isn't affected by what you eat or swallow.
Because of that, I wouldn't expect these two to truly clash in your body. The bigger point is simply making sure your thyroid product is actually working for you. Self-treating with an unstandardized animal extract can be unreliable, so please loop in your doctor or pharmacist about a proper prescription thyroid medicine.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Mitoxantrone page
“Very little here is casual, because mitoxantrone (Novantrone) is chemotherapy for certain cancers and aggressive multiple sclerosis, and anything that weakens it can cost real ground. The one major-rated interaction, activated charcoal, can pull the drug back out of the body even though mitoxantrone is given by IV.”

About Thyroid Extract
What is Thyroid Extract?
- Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)
- Fatigue and low energy
- Weight management
- Sluggish metabolism
- General thyroid support
Thyroid extract supplements are made from dried animal thyroid gland and may contain real thyroid hormones (T3 and T4), but the amounts in over-the-counter products are not standardized and can be unpredictable. Self-treating a thyroid problem with these supplements can be risky, so always work with a doctor or pharmacist and use prescription thyroid medicine when treatment is needed.
