Drug & supplement interaction

Tormentil + Abemaciclib

Abemaciclib brand name: Verzenio.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Tormentil and Abemaciclib in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Tormentil and Abemaciclib

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Abemaciclib and Tormentil in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Tormentil at all — not against Abemaciclib, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Tormentil and Abemaciclib May Share a Side Effect

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Abemaciclib page

“A daily pill for a common form of advanced breast cancer, abemaciclib (Verzenio) only helps when its blood level stays steady, so this list of 138 supplements deserves genuine care. Nearly all of them act on CYP3A4, the liver enzyme that clears abemaciclib, meaning a supplement can push its level up and intensify side effects, or drag…”

About Tormentil

What is Tormentil?

  • Diarrhea
  • Mouth and throat inflammation
  • Mild digestive upset
  • Sore throat (gargle)
  • Minor wounds and skin irritation

Tormentil is a traditional herb whose root is rich in tannins and has long been used for diarrhea and as a mouth rinse for sore gums or throat. Some small studies suggest it may help shorten diarrhea, but overall evidence is limited and quality is low. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding because safety is not established.

Potentilla erecta · Rosaceae · Root and rhizome (underground stem) · Tincture, liquid extract, tea, capsules, mouth rinse

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Tormentil is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Tormentil record says about it on its own.

Tormentil: dosing

There is no official, standardized dose for tormentil, and products vary widely in strength. Tinctures, extracts, teas, and capsules will each have different recommended amounts. The safest approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed them. If you are using it as a mouth rinse, do not swallow large amounts.
