Here's the practical picture with your birth control pill (Ovral and similar combos of ethinyl estradiol and norgestrel). Tragacanth is a gummy fiber that swells into a thick gel in your stomach. The concern is purely about timing of absorption: that gel could, in theory, trap a little of the hormone in your gut and keep your body from soaking up the full dose. This is only a theoretical idea based on how fiber behaves, not something proven in studies.

Why this matters for a birth control pill: you need a steady, reliable dose to prevent pregnancy and avoid breakthrough bleeding. To stay on the safe side, take your pill first and wait 30 to 60 minutes before any tragacanth supplement. Food amounts are unlikely to be a problem.
