Here's the simple version: tragacanth is a gummy fiber that swells into a thick gel when it hits liquid in your stomach. That gel can grab onto pills as they sit there, which may slow down or change how much etodolac your body actually soaks up. This isn't a chemistry clash with how etodolac is broken down. It's purely about the gel possibly getting in the way of absorption.

To be honest, this is theoretical and based on how the fiber behaves, not on real cases with etodolac. It could nudge your pain relief either way, weaker if less is absorbed or a touch stronger if more is. An easy fix is spacing them out: take your etodolac first, then wait 30 to 60 minutes before the tragacanth. If you use it regularly, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

Tragacanth is a plant gum used mainly as a thickener and emulsifier in foods, cosmetics, and medicines, and traditionally to soothe the throat and gut. Etodolac capsules and tablets are used to manage the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, both short-term and long-term. They are also used for acute pain relief.

Etodolac extended-release tablets are indicated for the relief of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile arthritis (in patients aged 6 to 16).
