Tragacanth contains hydrocolloidal fiber which can decrease, increase, or not affect oral drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take tragacanth 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's the simple version. Tragacanth is a gummy fiber that swells into a slippery gel when it hits liquid. If you swallow it close to the same time as your Ibuprofen and Hydrocodone combo, that gel could grab onto the pills in your gut and change how much medicine actually gets absorbed. It might slow it down, soak some up, or have no effect at all. This is a theoretical concern based on how the fiber behaves, not something proven in studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Still, with a pain reliever you usually want predictable results. If absorption dips, you may get less pain relief; the bigger worry is just inconsistent timing. An easy fix is spacing them out, taking your tragacanth about 30 to 60 minutes after your medication. Run it by your pharmacist to be safe.
