Here's the simple version when it comes to taking oral estrogen (whether for hormone therapy, birth control, or menopause symptoms) alongside tragacanth. Tragacanth is a gum that swells into a thick, slippery gel in your stomach. That gel can, in theory, grab onto a pill and slow or reduce how much of your estrogen gets absorbed into your bloodstream. If less estrogen is absorbed, the medicine could work less reliably.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is theoretical, based on how the fiber behaves, not on real-world reports of failed treatment. Food amounts in things like candy or sauces are very unlikely to matter. To be safe with concentrated supplement doses, a good habit is spacing them out, taking tragacanth 30 to 60 minutes after your estrogen. Check with your pharmacist if you use it regularly.

Tragacanth is a plant gum used mainly as a thickener and emulsifier in foods, cosmetics, and medicines, and traditionally to soothe the throat and gut.
