Miglitol falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Vanadium interacts with.

Theoretically, vanadium might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
A few very small clinical studies in patients with type 2 diabetes show that the vanadyl sulfate form of vanadium increases insulin sensitivity and might lower blood glucose levels.

Here's the simple version: vanadium seems to act a little like insulin and may help your cells take in sugar, which can nudge your blood sugar down on its own. Miglitol (Glyset) already works to lower your after-meal sugar by slowing how fast you absorb carbs. Stack the two and you may get a bit more blood-sugar lowering than you bargained for, which raises the odds of a low blood sugar episode (shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion).

One thing worth knowing: if you do go low while taking miglitol, regular table sugar won't fix it as quickly, so glucose tablets or gel work better. The evidence here is fairly thin and mostly from small studies, so don't panic. Just talk with your pharmacist or doctor before adding vanadium, and keep an eye on your sugar readings.
