Treprostinil (IV) falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Vanadium interacts with.

Theoretically, vanadium might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that the sodium orthovanadate form of vanadium prolongs clotting time, likely through inhibition of thrombin and factor Xa.

Here's the gist for treprostinil (Remodulin): besides widening blood vessels in your lungs, it also makes your platelets less sticky, so it can mildly thin the blood on its own. That's why it gets grouped with antiplatelet medicines. Vanadium, in lab studies, also seems to slow down clotting (it may interfere with thrombin and factor Xa). Stack the two together and, in theory, you could bruise or bleed a little more easily.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It comes from test-tube research only, not real people, and everyday food has only tiny traces of vanadium. The bigger concern would be a concentrated supplement. Since IV treprostinil is a serious therapy, please run any vanadium product past your doctor or pharmacist first.

About Treprostinil Injection

What Is Treprostinil Injection Used For?

Brand name: Remodulin

Treprostinil injection is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH, WHO Group 1) — high blood pressure in the arteries that supply the lungs. It works to reduce the symptoms that make exercise difficult. Clinical studies included patients with moderate-to-severe PAH symptoms (NYHA Class II–IV) due to idiopathic or heritable PAH, PAH related to congenital heart defects, and PAH related to connective tissue diseases.

It is also used for PAH patients who need to transition off epoprostenol — a related medication — to slow the worsening of their condition during that switch. The risks and benefits of the transition should be carefully discussed with a specialist before starting.
