Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Grepafloxacin
Grepafloxacin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Wheatgrass interacts with.
In vitro research shows that wheatgrass induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for grepafloxacin, an antibiotic in the fluoroquinolone family. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to help clear this drug from your body. Lab studies suggest wheatgrass may rev up (induce) that enzyme. In theory, that could clear grepafloxacin out a little faster, leaving less of it to do its job, which is fighting your infection.
I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes only from test-tube research, not from people, so we don't really know if it matters in real life. Grepafloxacin is also an older drug that was pulled from the market years ago. Still, an antibiotic that's slightly less effective isn't something to gamble with, so please run this combination past your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.

About Wheatgrass
What is Wheatgrass?
- General nutrition support
- Digestive health
- Antioxidant support
- Energy and wellness
- Arthritis symptoms
- Detox or cleansing routines
Wheatgrass is the young grass of the wheat plant, taken as a juice or powder, and is mainly used as a concentrated source of vitamins and plant nutrients. Solid scientific evidence for most health claims is limited, and it is best viewed as a nutritional add-on rather than a treatment. It is generally well tolerated, but people with celiac disease, wheat allergy, or who are pregnant should be cautious and check with a healthcare provider.
