Amlodipine Besilate falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group White Horehound interacts with.

Evidence from animal research suggests that taking white horehound extract lowers blood pressure. Theoretically, taking white horehound with antihypertensive drugs might enhance therapeutic effects and increase the risk of hypotension. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes your blood vessels to bring your blood pressure down. White horehound is mostly a folk remedy for coughs and digestion, but some animal research hints that it may lower blood pressure on its own. So the concern here is simple addition: if the herb nudges your pressure down while amlodipine is already doing that job, the two together could push it lower than you want.

Keep in mind this is theoretical and based on animal studies, not strong human evidence. If your pressure dipped too far, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, or extra tired, especially when standing up. The small amount in an occasional cough drop is unlikely to matter, but concentrated supplements are a bigger question. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
