Evidence from animal research suggests that taking white horehound extract lowers blood pressure. Theoretically, taking white horehound with antihypertensive drugs might enhance therapeutic effects and increase the risk of hypotension. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the gist with indapamide, your blood pressure and fluid pill. Animal studies hint that white horehound may gently lower blood pressure on its own. So if you pair it with indapamide, the two could add up and push your pressure down a bit more than expected. This isn't about horehound changing how your body breaks the drug down, it's just two things nudging in the same direction.

What that might feel like: dizziness, lightheadedness, feeling faint when you stand up, or unusual tiredness. The good news is this concern is theoretical, based mostly on lab and animal work, and an occasional horehound cough drop is unlikely to matter. If you're using concentrated supplement doses, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Indapamide Used For?

Brand names: Lozol, Lozide

Indapamide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), either on their own or together with other blood pressure medications. Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of related complications.

Indapamide tablets are also used to treat salt and fluid retention (edema) associated with congestive heart failure. In certain cases, indapamide may also be appropriate during pregnancy when swelling is caused by a medical condition rather than normal pregnancy changes — but routine use in otherwise healthy pregnant women is not recommended.
