Theoretically, taking white horehound with antihypertensive drugs might enhance therapeutic effects and increase the risk of hypotension. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Bendroflumethiazide is a thiazide-type water pill that lowers blood pressure by helping your body get rid of extra salt and fluid. Here's the thing about white horehound: animal studies hint that it may nudge blood pressure down a little on its own. So in theory, pairing the two could stack their effects and drop your pressure more than expected.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy or lightheaded, especially standing up quickly, and you could feel unusually tired. I want to be honest, though, this concern is theoretical and based on lab and animal work, not real patient cases. A flavored cough drop now and then is very unlikely to matter. If you're using concentrated horehound supplements regularly, just give your pharmacist or doctor a quick heads-up first.
