Here's the thing about this combo: your medication already contains aspirin, and willow bark is basically nature's aspirin-like cousin. Both work by thinning the blood a little and reducing how well platelets stick together to form clots. So when you stack willow bark on top of an aspirin-containing product, you're essentially doubling up on that same blood-thinning action.

Practically speaking, that can mean a higher chance of easy bruising, nosebleeds, stomach upset or irritation, and bleeding that takes longer to stop. This concern is based mostly on how these compounds work rather than strong studies, and willow bark's effect is milder than aspirin's. Still, since you don't need extra aspirin-like activity here, it's worth running this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Here's the simple version: your combination pill already has aspirin in it, and willow bark contains salicin, which your body turns into a substance very close to aspirin itself. So taking the two together is a bit like doubling up on aspirin without meaning to. This is a theory-based concern drawn from how these compounds work, not from hard studies, but it makes good sense pharmacologically.

What that could look like in real life is more of aspirin's usual downsides: stomach upset, heartburn, and most importantly a higher chance of bleeding or bruising, plus ringing in the ears if salicylate levels climb. The codeine part isn't really affected here. Before you pair these, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can weigh it for you.
