Here's the concern with combining wormwood and sodium valproate (Epilim). Valproate is a seizure medicine, and wormwood contains a compound called thujone that can actually trigger seizures in high amounts. So instead of one canceling the other out, the worry is that thujone could work against what your valproate is trying to do, making seizures harder to control.

I want to be honest about the evidence though: this is mostly theoretical, based on lab and animal findings rather than real patient cases. The small amounts in a bitter digestive tonic are unlikely to cause trouble, but concentrated wormwood supplements taken regularly are a different story. Since seizure control matters so much, please check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding any wormwood.
