Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
TETRACYCLINE ANTIBIOTICS
Why this applies to Eravacycline
Eravacycline falls under TETRACYCLINE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Yogurt interacts with.
Concomitant administration with yogurt can reduce the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, likely due to its calcium content.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's some good news on this one. The concern with yogurt and tetracycline antibiotics is that the calcium in dairy can bind to the drug in your gut and keep it from being absorbed, which weakens how well it fights the infection. But eravacycline (Xerava) is given as an injection into a vein, not swallowed as a pill. That means it never passes through your stomach, so yogurt isn't competing with it for absorption.
So in this specific case, enjoying yogurt should not lower your eravacycline levels. This caution really applies to oral tetracyclines you take by mouth. If you ever have questions about timing food or supplements around any antibiotic, your pharmacist is happy to walk you through it.

About Yogurt
What is Yogurt?
- Digestive health
- Restoring gut bacteria after antibiotics
- Vaginal yeast or bacterial balance
- Source of protein and calcium
- General immune and gut support
Yogurt is a fermented dairy food that often contains live bacteria (probiotics) and provides protein, calcium, and other nutrients. For most healthy people it is a safe, nutritious food, and some yogurts with live cultures may help with digestion and gut balance, though evidence varies by strain and condition. If you are lactose intolerant, have a milk allergy, or have a weakened immune system, talk to your pharmacist or doctor first.
About Eravacycline Injection
What Is Eravacycline Injection Used For?
Brand name: Xerava
Xerava (eravacycline) is used to treat complicated intra-abdominal infections (serious infections inside the abdomen, such as those following bowel problems or surgery) in adults 18 and older. It targets a range of bacterial types, including E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterococcus species, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacteroides species, and several others identified by lab testing.
Xerava is not approved for complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI). It should only be used when a bacterial infection is proven or strongly suspected — using antibiotics unnecessarily contributes to antibiotic resistance.
