Chlorpheniramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Zedoary interacts with.

Theoretically, zedoary might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In-vitro research shows that a methanol extract of zedoary strongly inhibits the CYP3A4 metabolism of the tyrosine kinase inhibitors lapatinib and sorafenib, and to a lesser extent, gefitinib.

Here's the gist for chlorpheniramine, the antihistamine in Chlor-Trimeton. Your body relies partly on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear this medicine out. In lab dish studies, zedoary appears to slow that same enzyme down. So in theory, taking concentrated zedoary supplements could let chlorpheniramine build up a bit higher than usual.

If that happened, you might notice the typical antihistamine effects feeling stronger, things like drowsiness, dry mouth, a foggy or dizzy feeling, or constipation. I want to be honest though: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube work, not real people, and a sprinkle of zedoary as a kitchen spice is very unlikely to matter. If you're considering regular supplement doses, just run it past your pharmacist or doctor first.

Chlorpheniramine is used to temporarily relieve common allergy symptoms caused by hay fever (allergic rhinitis) or other upper respiratory allergies. These include runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the nose or throat.

These uses are supported across multiple products — including tablets (such as Aller-chlor, Allergy, Allergy Relief, Allergy Time, Anti Allergy, and Chlorpheniramine Maleate), extended-release tablets (Allergy Relief and Chlorphen-12), the oral solution Ed Chlorped Jr, and the inhalers ClorRelief and ClorRelief KIDs.
