Glasdegib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Zedoary interacts with.

Theoretically, zedoary might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In-vitro research shows that a methanol extract of zedoary strongly inhibits the CYP3A4 metabolism of the tyrosine kinase inhibitors lapatinib and sorafenib, and to a lesser extent, gefitinib.

Here's the simple version. Your body clears glasdegib (Daurismo) using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dishes, zedoary appears to slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in a person, glasdegib could clear more slowly and build up a bit higher than expected, which can mean more of its side effects, things like nausea, muscle aches and cramps, fatigue, taste changes, or rash. Glasdegib can also affect the heart's rhythm (QT prolongation), so higher levels are something we take seriously.

That said, this is theoretical, based only on test-tube studies, not real patients. Since glasdegib is a cancer medicine, please don't add zedoary without checking with your oncology team or pharmacist first.

What Is Glasdegib Used For?

Brand name: Daurismo

Daurismo (glasdegib) is approved to treat newly-diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) — a fast-growing cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It is used specifically in adults who are 75 years of age or older, or in adults of any age whose other health conditions make intensive induction chemotherapy too risky.

Daurismo is not used alone. It is always given together with low-dose cytarabine, a separate chemotherapy medicine, as part of a 28-day treatment cycle.
