ABC Blood Orange Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking ABC Blood Orange against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
ABC Blood Orange is a powder blend of six active ingredients. L-Valine, L-Leucine, and L-Isoleucine are branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) — they're protein building blocks your muscles use, especially during and after exercise.
L-Glutamine is another amino acid that your body uses for muscle recovery and gut health. Citrulline Malate helps with blood flow and exercise performance.
Beta-alanine is an amino acid that helps buffer acid buildup in muscles during intense activity. The inactive ingredients are citric acid, sucralose, natural and artificial flavors, malic acid, and acesulfame potassium (sweeteners and taste enhancers).
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
L-Glutamine is effective for sickle cell disease and possibly effective for HIV/AIDS-related wasting, trauma recovery, and healing after surgery. Beta-alanine is possibly effective for athletic and physical performance.
The evidence doesn't establish effectiveness for beta-alanine in cognitive decline, lung disease, cognitive function, or menopausal symptoms. We don't have effectiveness data on file for the branched-chain amino acids, citrulline malate, or the overall product for any specific condition.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-Glutamine is generally well tolerated but people with kidney or liver disease should only use it under medical supervision. The most common side effects from glutamine are belching, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, stomach pain, headache, and nausea.
In rare cases at high doses, dizziness has occurred and mania has been reported in people with bipolar disorder. The product is likely safe during pregnancy and lactation based on glutamine data, but there isn't enough safety information on beta-alanine in pregnancy or while breastfeeding — it's best to avoid it in those situations.
Beta-alanine commonly causes harmless skin tingling (paresthesia) and flushing, usually starting on the scalp and lasting about an hour. This happens more at higher doses.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take anticonvulsant medications (drugs that prevent seizures), double-check with your pharmacist before adding this product — glutamine may theoretically reduce their effectiveness, though this hasn't been confirmed in patients yet. For all other medications, use the interaction checker on this page with your exact drug list.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a muscle-support formula aimed at athletes and people doing intense exercise. If you take anticonvulsant medications, check with your pharmacist first because of glutamine's theoretical interaction.
People with kidney or liver disease, those pregnant or breastfeeding, and anyone on prescription medications should talk to their pharmacist or doctor before starting.

ABC Blood Orange by Core Nutritionals Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
ABC Blood Orange by Core Nutritionals contains six active ingredients, one of which has documented interactions with medications.
L-Glutamine may theoretically antagonize anticonvulsant medications (drugs used to prevent seizures). This happens because glutamine is broken down into glutamate, an excitatory brain chemical that could work against how seizure medications function.
However, this interaction hasn't been reported in actual patients yet — the concern is theoretical.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Three other ingredients in this product — L-Valine, L-Leucine, and L-Isoleucine — could not be checked because we don't hold interaction data for them. Citrulline Malate also could not be checked.
Beta-alanine was checked and has no interactions documented in our data.
Altogether, these interactions span 50 individual medications. If you take any prescription drug — especially anticonvulsants — run your exact medications through the checker below before starting this product.
