Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: agaricus mushroom fruiting body extract in dried powder form, delivering 500 mg per capsule. The formula also includes inactive ingredients—pullulan polysaccharide, rice powder, bamboo extract powder, and rice extract blend—which serve as capsule material and flow agents.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for agaricus mushroom isn't established in our data. We hold effectiveness ratings for several uses—allergic rhinitis (hay fever), osteoporosis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, chemotherapy-related side effects, and Crohn disease—and for all of them, the available evidence is insufficient to make a reliable rating.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Agaricus mushroom is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth as a food, though long-term safety as a supplement isn't well established. The most common side effects reported are abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, and nausea.
Rare but serious effects include allergic reactions, liver damage (hepatotoxicity), and a lung condition called interstitial lung disease (ILD). Three cases of severe liver damage have been reported in women with ovarian or breast cancer who took agaricus supplements while undergoing chemotherapy; two of those cases were fatal.
Allergic skin reactions (rash, lip swelling) have also been documented and resolved when the product was stopped. During pregnancy, there isn't enough safety data, so supplement doses should be avoided.
The same applies to breastfeeding—there's not enough data to know it's safe, so it's best to skip it while nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antidiabetes drugs—insulin, metformin, sulfonylureas, or similar medications—double-check with your pharmacist before starting this product. There's a documented risk of low blood sugar when agaricus is combined with these medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is for people interested in agaricus mushroom as a functional food ingredient, though its effectiveness for specific health conditions isn't well established in our data. If you take an antidiabetes medication, talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting—especially if you're already well controlled, since low blood sugar is a real risk.
The safety profile over the long term isn't fully known, and it's not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
