What’s inside
Full disclosure

Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for agaricus mushroom is not yet established in the data we hold. The supplement has been studied or proposed for allergic rhinitis (hay fever), osteoporosis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, chemotherapy side effects, and Crohn disease, but the research is rated as insufficient to confirm whether it works for any of these uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Agaricus mushroom is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth, and it's been used as food in some cultures. The most common side effects reported are abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, and nausea.
Rare but serious adverse effects have been reported — including allergic reactions, liver damage, and a lung condition called interstitial lung disease (ILD). Three cases of severe liver damage, including two fatal cases, were reported in women with cancer who were also on chemotherapy and taking agaricus mushroom; one patient also carried hepatitis B virus.
Allergic rashes have also been reported with certain agaricus products. There is not enough safety data to know whether this supplement is safe during pregnancy — the data advises against using it.
The same applies to breastfeeding: there isn't enough information either way, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice before taking it while nursing.
