Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains four active ingredients as a proprietary extract blend. Angelica sinensis root (also called Dong Quai) is the lead component, traditionally used in Chinese medicine.
The blend also includes Ziziphus jujuba fruit, Ligusticum chuanxiong rhizome, and Atractylodes macrocephala rhizome—all botanical extracts meant to work together. The pill also contains inactive ingredients (fillers and binders): maltose, hydrated magnesium silicate, activated carbon, and china wax.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish how well this product works. Angelica sinensis has been studied for iron-deficiency anemia, osteoporosis, heart disease, migraines, and eczema, but the data are insufficient to rate its effectiveness for any of these.
Atractylodes has similarly insufficient evidence for loss of appetite, muscle wasting, lung cancer, colds, and diarrhea. We have no effectiveness ratings on file for the other two ingredients.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Dong quai is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth, though some people report burping and flatulence. Rarely, it's caused allergic asthma and rhinitis.
Importantly, it may increase bleeding risk and can make your skin sensitive to sunlight, so use it cautiously. Dong quai is not safe in pregnancy—it may stimulate the uterus and affect bleeding.
Avoid it while breastfeeding; there isn't enough safety data. Atractylodes also should be avoided in pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
Human safety data for atractylodes are limited, so use it only under guidance. It may cause allergic reactions, dry mouth, or nausea.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Check before starting if you take warfarin (Coumadin) or any blood thinner or antiplatelet drug—Dong Quai and atractylodes both raise your bleeding risk (Major for warfarin, Moderate for others). Also double-check if you take estrogen therapy, aromatase inhibitors, hexobarbital, or drugs your liver metabolizes, especially at high doses.
Run your medications through the tool on this page.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no assessable stated purpose. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is not suitable if you take warfarin or other blood thinners—the bleeding risk is real. If you're on estrogen therapy, a cancer drug, or any sedative, talk to your pharmacist or doctor first.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Avoid it.
If you have no medication concerns and aren't pregnant, a pharmacist can help you weigh whether this is right for you.

Angelica Dang Gui Teapills by Plum Flower Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Angelica Dang Gui Teapills by Plum Flower contains ingredients with documented interactions affecting multiple medications.
The most serious concern is Angelica sinensis (Dong Quai), which carries a Major interaction with warfarin (Coumadin). Case reports show that dong quai can increase warfarin's blood-thinning effect and raise your bleeding risk—in one case, INR (a measure of how thin your blood is) climbed significantly after just four weeks.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Dong quai also has Moderate interactions with other blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (like aspirin or clopidogrel), again raising bleeding risk. It may theoretically interfere with estrogen-based therapies by competing for the same receptors.
Atractylodes macrocephala, another ingredient here, carries Moderate interactions with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs as well. It also has theoretical concerns with aromatase inhibitors (used for breast cancer), hexobarbital (a sedative), and certain drugs your liver metabolizes, though most of these haven't been proven in humans.
Altogether, these interactions span 795 individual medications.
We couldn't check Ziziphus jujuba and Ligusticum chuanxiong for interactions—no data are on file for them. If you take any blood thinner, estrogen therapy, cancer medication, or sedative, run your exact medications through the checker on this page before you start.

Atractylodes macrocephala Rhizome Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.
Laboratory research suggests that atractylenolides II and III, constituents of atractylodes, reduce platelet activation. So far, this has not been shown in humans.
Aromatase Inhibitors
Theoretically, atractylodes may have an additive effect when used with other aromatase inhibitors.
Laboratory research suggests that atractylodes and its constituents exhibit aromatase inhibitor effects.
Hexobarbital
Theoretically, taking atractylodes may prolong the therapeutic and adverse effects of hexobarbital.
In animals, atractylodes has been shown to prolong the effects of hexobarbital. These effects have not been shown in humans.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, atractylodes might decrease the levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to induce CYP1A2 activity. This effect has not been shown in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to inhibit CYP3A1 activity, which is a homolog to the human CYP3A4 enzyme. This effect has not been shown in humans.
Ziziphus jujuba Fruit Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, zizyphus might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research shows that zizyphus has hypoglycemic activity. However, a small clinical study shows that zizyphus fruit powder does not reduce fasting blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, zizyphus might cause additive sedative effects when taken with CNS depressants.
Some animal research has found that various parts of zizyphus have sedative effects. However, other animal research shows that zizyphus plant extract does not alter sleep parameters when used in combination with pentobarbital.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, zizyphus might decrease the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Animal research shows that zizyphus induces CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Angelica sinensis Root Extract
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Dong quai may increase the risk of bleeding when used with warfarin.
Case reports suggest that concomitant use of dong quai with warfarin can increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin and increase the risk of bleeding. In one case, after 4 weeks of taking dong quai 565 mg once or twice daily, the international normalized ratio (INR) increased to 4.9. The INR normalized 4 weeks after discontinuation of dong quai.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, dong quai may increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs; however, research is conflicting.
Animal studies suggest that dong quai has antithrombin activity and inhibits platelet aggregation due to its coumarin components. Additionally, some case reports in humans suggest that dong quai can increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. However, clinical research in healthy adults shows that taking 1 gram of dong quai root daily for 3 weeks does not significantly inhibit platelet aggregation or cause bleeding. Until more is known, use dong quai with caution in patients taking antiplatelet/anticoagulant drugs.
Estrogens
Theoretically, dong quai may reduce the effects of estrogens.
Dong quai has estrogenic effects. Theoretically, concomitant use of large amounts of dong quai might interfere with hormone replacement therapy due to competition for estrogen receptors.
