What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Arjuna Extract against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
Arjuna Extract by Herbadiet contains two active ingredients—arjuna bark extract and organic arjuna—both from the Terminalia arjuna plant. The product also has one inactive ingredient, a vegetable cellulose capsule shell.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence we hold doesn't establish whether arjuna works for the conditions it's marketed for. Effectiveness data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate its use for obesity, high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), high blood pressure (hypertension), or angina.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work—just that the studies we have access to aren't strong enough yet to say either way.
How safe is it?
Some data gaps
Arjuna is generally well tolerated in short-term studies, though long-term safety data is limited and quality can vary by product. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding due to insufficient safety information.
If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this supplement.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist before taking this product if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin or aspirin), diabetes medications, drugs processed through CYP2D6, CYP2C9, or CYP3A4 pathways (a huge category including many heart and psychiatric medications), chlorzoxazone (a muscle relaxer), or omeprazole (a heartburn medication).
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.
Arjuna Extract may be worth considering if you're interested in traditional cardiovascular support and have no medications that interact with it. But because it affects how your liver processes a large number of drugs, you really need to check your current medications first.
Talk to your pharmacist before adding this to your routine—especially if you take blood thinners, diabetes drugs, or anything metabolized by your liver.

Arjuna Extract by Herbadiet Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Arjuna Extract by Herbadiet contains arjuna bark that can interact with several medication types.
The biggest concern is with drugs processed through three major liver pathways—CYP2D6, CYP2C9, and CYP3A4 substrates (Moderate severity). Lab research shows arjuna inhibits these enzymes, which means it can raise levels of drugs metabolized through them, potentially increasing side effects.
This includes many common medications like certain antidepressants, beta-blockers, statins, and immunosuppressants.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Arjuna also interacts with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (Moderate severity)—it can inhibit platelet function in the lab, theoretically raising bleeding risk. If you take diabetes medications, arjuna may lower your blood sugar further, increasing the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)—also Moderate severity.
Two specific drugs deserve mention: chlorzoxazone (a muscle relaxer) and omeprazole (a heartburn medication) both show increased blood levels in animal studies when combined with related Terminalia species.
Altogether, these interactions span 922 individual medications. Before you start this product, search your exact medications in the tool on this page.

For each ingredient in Arjuna Extract with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Arjuna bark extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of Terminalia arjuna with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding in some patients.
In vitro, Terminalia arjuna bark extract inhibits platelet aggregation, decreases platelet activation, and shows antithrombotic properties.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of Terminalia bellirica or Terminalia chebula with antidiabetes drugs could affect blood sugar control and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal and in vitro research shows that Terminalia bellirica and Terminalia chebula fruit and seed extract have hypoglycemic effects.
Chlorzoxazone (Parafon Forte, Paraflex)
Theoretically, use of Terminalia chebula may increase the risk of adverse effects from chlorzoxazone.
Animal research shows that enteral administration of Terminalia chebula for 15 days prior to administration of chlorzoxazone increases blood levels of chlorzoxazone and decreases chlorzoxazone clearance. It is speculated that Terminalia chebula reduces the metabolism of chlorzoxazone by inhibiting cytochrome P450 2E1.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, use of Terminalia arjuna may increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Terminalia arjuna extract inhibits CYP2C9 enzymes and reduces CYP2C9 substrate metabolism.
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, use of Terminalia arjuna may increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Terminalia arjuna extract inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes and reduces CYP2D6 substrate metabolism.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, use of Terminalia arjuna may increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Terminalia arjuna extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes and reduces CYP3A4 substrate metabolism.
Omeprazole (Prilosec)
Theoretically, use of Terminalia chebula may increase the risk of adverse effects from omeprazole.
Animal research shows that enteral administration of Terminalia chebula for 15 days prior to administration of omeprazole increases blood levels of omeprazole and decreases omeprazole clearance. It is speculated that Terminalia chebula reduces the metabolism of omeprazole by inhibiting cytochrome P450 2C19.
