Here's the short version: your body partly relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear aripiprazole (the active medicine in Aristada injections). Lab studies suggest that Terminalia arjuna may slow that same enzyme down. If that happens in real life, aripiprazole could build up a bit higher than expected, which might mean more side effects like drowsiness, restlessness, dizziness, tremor, or low blood pressure when you stand.

I want to be honest with you, though. This concern comes only from test-tube research, not from studies in people, so it's theoretical. With a long-acting shot like this, levels stay steady for weeks anyway, so any change wouldn't be quick to reverse. Please don't stop either one. Just run it by your pharmacist or prescriber first so they can keep an eye on you.

Aripiprazole injection is used to treat schizophrenia and to provide maintenance treatment for bipolar I disorder in adults. Different injectable products carry these approvals.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
