What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Berry Dophilus Kids against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Low disclosure
Berry Dophilus Kids contains 10 probiotic strains — live beneficial bacteria meant to support digestive health. The active ingredients are Lactobacillus paracasei Lpc-37, Bifidobacterium longum BI-05, Lactobacillus casei (Lc-11), Lactobacillus rhamnosus (Lr-32), Lactobacillus plantarum (Lp-115), Lactobacillus salivarius (Ls-33), Bifidobacterium breve (Bb-03), Lactobacillus acidophilus (La-14), Streptococcus thermophilus (St-21), and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis Bl-04.
The tablet also contains inactive ingredients like xylitol, sorbitol, cellulose, and natural berry flavor to make it palatable for kids.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence on these specific strains in kids varies. Lactobacillus acidophilus has possibly effective evidence for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis — though kids with IBS or diarrhea would be the most relevant here.
Bifidobacterium breve is rated possibly ineffective for age-related cognitive decline and sepsis. For the other uses tracked — allergic rhinitis (hay fever), atopic disease, and several others — we don't have enough reliable evidence yet to rate these strains.
The bottom line: there's some possible benefit for diarrhea-related issues, but evidence is limited for most childhood conditions.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy children. That said, caution is needed if your child is seriously ill or has a weakened immune system — talk with your child's doctor before using.
Rare gastrointestinal side effects reported with individual strains include abdominal discomfort, bloating, flatulence, and constipation. Rarely, a dry cough has been reported.
There have been very rare cases of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream) in critically ill infants and preterm infants on probiotics; this is not a concern for healthy children but is important context if your child is in intensive care or severely immunocompromised. For pregnancy and breastfeeding: Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly safe in pregnancy.
For the other strains we could check, data are too limited — talk with your child's doctor or pharmacist before use if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If your child is taking an antibiotic, this is the key concern: space out the doses of this probiotic and the antibiotic by several hours to protect the live organisms. Antibiotics can kill the beneficial bacteria in this product.
Talk with your child's doctor or pharmacist about the best timing for your child's specific antibiotic and age.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Berry Dophilus Kids is a multi-strain probiotic tablet designed for children's digestive support, with some evidence backing Lactobacillus acidophilus for antibiotic-associated diarrhea. The main thing to watch is timing with antibiotics — space them out so the antibiotic doesn't kill off the live probiotics.
If your child is ill, has a weak immune system, or is on an antibiotic, check with your child's doctor or pharmacist before starting this product.

Berry Dophilus Kids by NOW Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Berry Dophilus Kids by NOW contains several probiotic strains that can interact with antibiotics.
Through its Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium breve, and Lactobacillus acidophilus content, this product may decrease the effectiveness of the probiotics themselves when taken together with antibiotic drugs — a Moderate-severity interaction. Because these are live organisms, antibiotics can kill a significant number of them.
The way to manage this is straightforward: space out your doses, taking antibiotics and the probiotic several hours apart (or ask your doctor or pharmacist for the best timing for your child's specific situation).

We were able to check Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium breve, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Streptococcus thermophilus. Streptococcus thermophilus showed no interactions in our data.
We could not check Lactobacillus paracasei Lpc-37, Lactobacillus casei (Lc-11), Lactobacillus rhamnosus (Lr-32), Lactobacillus plantarum (Lp-115), Lactobacillus salivarius (Ls-33), or Bifidobacterium animalis lactis Bl-04 — we hold no interaction data for those strains.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. Before starting this product alongside any antibiotic your child is taking, check with your child's doctor or pharmacist about the best way to time the doses.

For each ingredient in Berry Dophilus Kids with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Bifidobacterium longum BI-05
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bifidobacterium breve (Bb-03)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium breve with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. breve.
Since B. breve preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. breve preparations by at least 2 hours.
Lactobacillus acidophilus (La-14)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
