What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Berry Dophilus Kids against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Low disclosure
Berry Dophilus Kids is a 10-strain probiotic blend made for kids. The active ingredients are live beneficial bacteria: Lactobacillus paracasei, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus salivarius, Bifidobacterium breve, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Streptococcus thermophilus, and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis.
These come in a chewable tablet with inactive ingredients like xylitol, sorbitol, and microcrystalline cellulose for texture and taste.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for most uses is thin. Lactobacillus acidophilus shows possibly effective ratings for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis — but it's only one strain in a blend.
Bifidobacterium breve is rated possibly ineffective for age-related cognitive decline and sepsis. For the other strains and conditions listed in our data — allergic rhinitis, asthma, anxiety, and several others — the evidence isn't strong enough to rate.
We simply don't have reliable data on how well this product works for specific kids' health concerns.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy children. The other checked strains (Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium breve, and Streptococcus thermophilus) are also generally well tolerated in healthy people but warrant caution if your child is seriously ill or immune-compromised — probiotics contain live organisms and rare cases of bloodstream infection (bacteremia) have occurred in critically ill patients.
Common side effects are usually mild and rare: abdominal discomfort, bloating, flatulence, and loose stools. One dry cough was reported by a single trial participant.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding, we have insufficient data on file for most of these strains.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your child's antibiotic medications before starting this product — Moderate interactions are documented. All three of the checked probiotic strains (Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium breve, and Lactobacillus acidophilus) can be killed by antibiotics taken simultaneously.
Separate doses by several hours.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Berry Dophilus Kids is a multi-strain probiotic meant for children with a modest track record for certain digestive issues. It's generally well tolerated in healthy kids, but if your child is on antibiotics, space out the doses so the medicine doesn't kill off the live bacteria.
Talk to your pediatrician before starting this product, especially if your child has a serious illness or weak immune system.

Berry Dophilus Kids by NOW Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Berry Dophilus Kids by NOW contains ten probiotic strains, and we found documented interactions for three of them.
The most serious concern is with antibiotic drugs (Moderate severity): Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium breve, and Lactobacillus acidophilus can all be killed by antibiotics taken at the same time, which would reduce how well the probiotics work. If you're on antibiotics, space out the dose — take your antibiotic and the probiotic several hours apart so the antibiotic doesn't wipe out the live organisms.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Streptococcus thermophilus has no interactions documented in our data. We were not able to check Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus salivarius, or Bifidobacterium animalis lactis — we hold no data for those ingredients.

For each ingredient in Berry Dophilus Kids with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Bifidobacterium longum BI-05
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bifidobacterium breve (Bb-03)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium breve with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. breve.
Since B. breve preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. breve preparations by at least 2 hours.
Lactobacillus acidophilus (La-14)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
