BifidoLife Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by NutriCology
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking BifidoLife against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of BifidoLife by NutriCology
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
BifidoLife contains five active probiotic strains—friendly bacteria meant to support your gut health. Three of them are Bifidobacterium species (breve, longum, and lactis), and two are Lactobacillus species (acidophilus and rhamnosus).
The product also includes inactive ingredients like capsule material (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), calcium phosphate, maltodextrin, and silica—standard binders and fillers that help hold the capsule together.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for what these probiotics actually do varies widely by strain and condition. Lactobacillus acidophilus shows possibly effective ratings for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
The other strains don't have established effectiveness ratings in our data for most conditions—we simply don't have enough reliable evidence yet. If you're considering this product for a specific health goal, talk with your pharmacist or doctor about whether the evidence supports its use for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. However, the data we hold is limited, so check with your doctor before use—especially if you're very ill, immunocompromised, or breastfeeding.
There have been rare cases of serious bacterial infection (bacteremia) linked to probiotic use in critically ill patients, very young infants, and people with certain medical conditions. Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea have been reported rarely with probiotic combinations, though these haven't been specifically tied to Bifidobacterium breve alone.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs (Moderate severity) are the key interaction to watch: antibiotics may reduce how well this probiotic works because they can kill the live bacteria. Space out when you take them—ask your pharmacist for a timeline.
We couldn't check two of the five strains (Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Bifidobacterium lactis) because we hold no data for them, so run your full medication list through the checker on this page.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
BifidoLife is a multi-strain probiotic that may help with some gut-related conditions, especially if you're taking antibiotics. If you're healthy, it's generally well tolerated, but if you're seriously ill, immunocompromised, a very young infant, or considering it while breastfeeding, talk with your doctor first.
Most importantly, check your medications here before starting—antibiotics are the main concern.

BifidoLife by NutriCology Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
BifidoLife by NutriCology contains five probiotic strains, three of which have documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern involves antibiotic drugs: all three checked strains (Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum, and Lactobacillus acidophilus) interact with antibiotics at Moderate severity. Since these are live organisms, antibiotics can kill them and reduce their effectiveness.
If you're on an antibiotic, you'll want to space out when you take this product and your medication—your pharmacist or doctor can help you time them.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
We couldn't check two of the five strains in this product (Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Bifidobacterium lactis) because we don't hold interaction data for them. Before you start BifidoLife, use the medication checker on this page to run through your exact prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs—especially if you're taking antibiotics or have a weakened immune system.

Bifidobacterium breve Bb-03
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium breve with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. breve.
Since B. breve preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. breve preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bifidobacterium longum Bl-05
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Lactobacillus acidophilus La-14
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
