Bio.Me Barrier contains 9 active ingredients — all live probiotic bacteria. Moderate evidence
Bifidobacterium bifidum is rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and respiratory tract infections. We don't have enough evidence to rate it for hay fever, Alzheimer disease, or generalized anxiety disorder.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly effective for IBS, H. pylori (a stomach bacteria), antibiotic-related diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, but appears ineffective for atopic disease (eczema, asthma, allergies). We do not have established effectiveness ratings for the other bacterial strains in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are generally well tolerated in healthy people. Those with weakened immune systems should be cautious and talk with their doctor first.
Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort can occur with probiotic combinations, though these are uncommon. Very rare cases of serious infection (sepsis, endocarditis) have been reported with L. acidophilus in severely ill patients, but these are not typical.
Pregnancy is rated possibly safe for both strains; breastfeeding data is not on file. Check with your doctor before use if you're pregnant, nursing, or have a weakened immune system.

B. bifidum W23
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
Since B. bifidum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. bifidum preparations by at least 2 hours.
L. acidophilus W-37
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
