Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: choline, 600 mg per tablet. Choline is a nutrient that supports cell function and brain health.

The tablet also contains several inactive ingredients — microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, rice bran, silica, and pharmaceutical glaze — which help hold the tablet together and keep it stable on the shelf.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Choline product and its label doesn't state a use — see Choline's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for choline is mixed and depends on what you're taking it for. For athletic performance, the data suggests it's probably ineffective.

For other uses — including age-related cognitive decline, Alzheimer's disease, allergic rhinitis, bronchitis, and liver health during IV nutrition — we don't have reliable evidence in our data to say whether it works or doesn't. If you're considering choline for a specific reason, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to see what the research supports for your situation.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

At the dose in this product (600 mg), choline is generally well tolerated. However, high-dose choline supplements can cause side effects.

Doses above the safe upper limit of 3.5 grams daily have been linked to fishy body odor, diarrhea, nausea, sweating, salivation, and vomiting. During pregnancy, choline is important for fetal development, but you should use it only at doses your doctor recommends — not on your own judgment.

If you're breastfeeding, your choline needs are higher, but supplements should only be used under professional guidance.

Only Minor-severity interactions are documented for these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Choline.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Minor.
  • For scale: 16 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

If you take atropine or any anticholinergic medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product — choline may reduce its effectiveness.

Atropine

Theoretically, choline might decrease the effects of atropine in the brain.
Animal research shows that administering choline one hour before administering atropine can attenuate atropine-induced decreases in brain levels of acetylcholine. Theoretically, concomitant use of choline and atropine may decrease the effects of atropine.

Choline 600 mg by Natures Plus: Common Questions

Does Choline 600 mg by Natures Plus interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Choline 600 mg has a known interaction with 16 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Choline 600 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Will this help my memory or slow age-related cognitive decline?
We don't have reliable evidence in our data to say whether choline works for age-related memory loss or Alzheimer's disease. If brain health is your goal, talk with your doctor about whether choline or another approach makes sense for you.
Is it safe to take at 600 mg daily?
Yes, at this dose choline is generally well tolerated. Side effects are mainly reported at much higher doses — above 3.5 grams daily — where fishy body odor, nausea, and digestive upset can occur. The 600 mg in this tablet is well below that threshold.
Can I take this while pregnant?
Choline is important during pregnancy, but you should only use supplements at doses your doctor advises. Talk with your doctor before starting this product to make sure the dose is right for you.
What is choline, and why would I need it?
Choline is a nutrient your body uses for cell function and brain health. Your body makes some, and you get some from food — eggs, fish, and chicken are good sources — but some people consider a supplement to fill any gap.
Can I breastfeed while taking this?
Your choline needs are higher while breastfeeding, but supplements should only be used under professional guidance. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether you need one and what dose is safe for you and your baby.
