Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
CLA 1000 mg contains five active ingredients, all fatty acids: conjugated linoleic acid (the primary ingredient that gives this product its name), along with stearic acid, linoleic acid, oleic acid, and palmitic acid. These are delivered in a softgel capsule with gelatin, glycerin, and purified water as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Not established
Oleic acid in this product has been rated possibly effective for high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) and possibly effective for heart disease risk (coronary heart disease). We hold no effectiveness data in our system for the other fatty acids in this formula.
How safe is it?
Some data gaps
Oleic acid is generally recognized as safe when you consume it in normal food amounts — olive oil is a common dietary source. However, concentrated supplement doses of oleic acid haven't been well studied in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
If you're pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant, there isn't enough safety data to know whether a supplement-level dose is appropriate, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice. No adverse effects were reported in the data we hold for this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your antidiabetes medications (drugs that lower blood sugar) before taking this product. Oleic acid may increase their effects, which means your blood sugar could drop lower than expected.
Your doctor or pharmacist can tell you whether that's a concern for your specific situation and dosage.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.
CLA 1000 mg may interest you if you're looking to support cholesterol or heart health, based on the possibly effective rating for oleic acid. If you take diabetes medication, check your exact drugs with the tool on this page before starting — the oleic acid could strengthen blood sugar-lowering effects.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this to your routine, especially if you're pregnant, nursing, or on any prescription medication.

CLA 1000 mg by BioGanix Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
CLA 1000 mg by BioGanix contains five fatty acids, and we have interaction data for only one of them: oleic acid.
Oleic acid may increase the effects of antidiabetes drugs (medications that lower blood sugar). Preliminary research in people with type 2 diabetes suggests that a diet rich in oleic acid lowers fasting blood glucose levels compared to a diet high in linoleic acid — so if you're already on a diabetes medication, this ingredient could theoretically strengthen that effect.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
We couldn't check three other individual ingredients — stearic acid, linoleic acid, and palmitic acid — because we hold no interaction data for them. Conjugated linoleic acid is listed as a blend of component ingredients that are shown separately above.
Altogether, these interactions span 86 individual medications. If you take any diabetes medication, use the search tool on this page to check your exact drugs before starting this supplement.
Talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist as well — they can advise whether the dose and your current regimen work together safely.

Oleic Acid
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, oleic acid might increase the effects of antidiabetes drugs. Preliminary clinical research in patients with type 2 diabetes taking oral hypoglycemic drugs shows that eating a diet rich in oleic acid from olive oil decreases fasting blood glucose levels when compared to eating a diet rich in linoleic acid from sunflower oil. It is unknown if taking oleic acid supplements would have this effect or if this change is clinically significant. Until more is known, use caution. Dose adjustment may be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.
