Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 2 active ingredients: Crampbark Bark Extract and False Unicorn Root Extract, delivered in liquid form as a Proprietary Blend. The inactive ingredient list shows none.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence backing these ingredients isn't established in the data we hold. Crampbark has been used traditionally for muscle cramps, dysmenorrhea (painful periods), and pregnancy-related leg cramps, but the scientific evidence to rate how well it works is insufficient.
There's no effectiveness data on file for False Unicorn Root.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
False Unicorn Root is generally well tolerated at typical doses, but large amounts can cause nausea and vomiting. Human safety data for both ingredients are limited.
The safety data advises against False Unicorn in pregnancy because of its traditional use to affect the uterus and lack of rigorous safety testing. There isn't enough information to know if it's safe while breastfeeding, so your doctor or pharmacist should weigh the decision for you.
Crampbark similarly should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to insufficient safety information.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before starting this product, check your medications against Moderate-severity interactions: CYP2D6 substrates (antidepressants like amitriptyline and desipramine, pain relievers like codeine and fentanyl, and heart rhythm drugs), CYP3A4 substrates (calcium channel blockers and chemotherapy agents), and lithium. If you take any of these, run them through the checker on this page.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take medications broken down by your liver — especially antidepressants, pain relievers, heart drugs, or chemotherapy — check with us before adding this product. The traditional use of both herbs suggests they may affect the uterus, so pregnancy or breastfeeding is a conversation to have with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Altogether, these interactions span 730 individual medications.

Crampbark & False Unicorn Root by Pure Herbs Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Crampbark & False Unicorn Root by Pure Herbs contains False Unicorn Root Extract, which has documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern is with drugs that are broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 (cytochrome P450 2D6 substrates) — a Moderate severity interaction. False Unicorn may slow how your body clears these drugs, raising their levels in your blood.
Examples include certain antidepressants (amitriptyline, desipramine), pain relievers (codeine, fentanyl), and heart rhythm medications (flecainide).
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
False Unicorn also interacts with medications broken down by another liver enzyme, CYP3A4 (cytochrome P450 3A4 substrates), also at Moderate severity. This can affect calcium channel blockers used for blood pressure, certain chemotherapy drugs, and others — your liver processes them more slowly when False Unicorn is present.
Additionally, False Unicorn has mild diuretic (water-shedding) properties that may theoretically interfere with lithium, a mood stabilizer. The medication could build up to higher levels in your blood.
Crampbark Bark Extract was checked and shows no interactions documented in our data — though that's not a guarantee none exist. Before you start this product, run your exact medications through the interaction checker on this page.

False Unicorn Root Extract
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates. Some of drugs that are CYP2D6 substrates include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates. Drugs that might be affected include some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, nicardipine, verapamil), chemotherapeutic agents (etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), glucocorticoids, cisapride (Propulsid), alfentanil (Alfenta), fentanyl (Sublimaze), losartan (Cozaar), fluoxetine (Prozac), midazolam (Versed), omeprazole (Prilosec), ondansetron (Zofran), propranolol (Inderal), fexofenadine (Allegra), and numerous others.
Lithium
False unicorn is thought to have diuretic properties. Theoretically, due to these potential diuretic effects, false unicorn might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
