What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Elderberry Syrup against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Revive Elderberry Syrup is a single-ingredient product: elderberry extract in a liquid form. The inactive ingredients are glycerin and deionized water, which help create the syrup base.
Does it work?
Insufficient evidence
The evidence for elderberry isn't established in our data for most of the conditions it's marketed for — hay fever, heart disease, chronic fatigue, COPD, cognitive function, and respiratory tract infections all fall into insufficient evidence to rate. That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means the data we hold doesn't show us strong proof either way.
If you're considering it for one of these uses, talk to your pharmacist about what the broader research landscape looks like.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Properly cooked elderberry products (like this syrup) are generally well tolerated. The main risk comes from raw or unripe berries, seeds, leaves, and bark, which contain a compound that breaks down into something toxic — that can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, dizziness, and in severe cases, numbness or confusion.
Cooking eliminates this toxin, and a prepared syrup should be safe on that front. There's one case report of autoimmune hepatitis in someone with an underlying autoimmune condition who took elderberry long-term; that patient recovered after stopping the product.
Avoid elderberry supplements during pregnancy and breastfeeding — there isn't enough safety data to know either way.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, use the checker below to verify your medications — especially immunosuppressants (drugs to prevent transplant rejection or treat autoimmune disease) and pazopanib (a cancer drug). These are the medication types with documented moderate-severity interactions to this product.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with insufficient evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Revive Elderberry Syrup may be worth a try if you're looking for immune support or cold season help, but you must check it against any immunosuppressants or cancer medications you're on — those are the main concerns. Because the effectiveness evidence is thin, talk with your pharmacist about whether it's the right fit for what you're hoping to use it for.
Don't take it if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

Elderberry Syrup by Revive Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Revive Elderberry Syrup contains one active ingredient — elderberry — and it does interact with certain medications.
The most serious concern is with immunosuppressants (drugs that weaken your immune system to prevent organ rejection or treat autoimmune conditions). Elderberry stimulates immune activity, which could theoretically interfere with how these medications work.
You'll want to check any immunosuppressants you're taking before starting this product.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
There's also a documented interaction with pazopanib (Votrient), a cancer medication. In one case, a patient developed severe nausea, loose stools, and liver injury after taking pazopanib alongside elderberry.
This is a moderate-severity concern.
Altogether, these interactions span 121 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact drugs before you start.
