What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product has 10 ingredients, of which the active ones are the individual B vitamins and minerals: sodium, pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), vitamin B6, biotin, inositol, vitamin B12, and a yeast nutrients blend plus an essential vitamin B complex blend. We could not check interactions for natural vitamin B1, B2, B3, and folic acid — our data doesn't cover them.
The remaining ingredients are inactive: plant polysaccharides, rice extract, rice, tapioca maltodextrin, and purified water, which serve as fillers and capsule material.
Does it work?
Not established
Evidence for this product's active ingredients is mixed. Sodium is likely effective for cystic fibrosis and possibly effective for amphotericin B kidney damage — but at normal dietary amounts it's not a supplement concern.
Pantothenic acid is effective for pantothenic acid deficiency itself. Vitamin B6 is effective for sideroblastic anemia (a blood disorder), B6 deficiency, and a rare seizure disorder, and possibly effective for pregnancy-related nausea.
Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency. Inositol is possibly effective for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), metabolic syndrome, and preterm labor.
Vitamin B12 is effective for B12 deficiency and cyanide poisoning, and possibly effective for canker sores and nerve pain after shingles. For many other claimed uses — like allergies, depression, or anxiety — the evidence is insufficient or the ingredient showed no benefit in trials.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Sodium is generally well tolerated at normal dietary amounts, but too much is linked to high blood pressure and heart strain — avoid sodium supplements or very high intake without medical guidance. The B vitamins in typical supplement doses are generally well tolerated.
Vitamin B6 is safe at normal amounts, but high doses over time (especially 1000 mg or more daily) can damage nerves. Pantothenic acid, biotin, and vitamin B12 have few side effects at standard doses.
Inositol commonly causes mild digestive upset (diarrhea, gas, nausea). For pregnancy and lactation: sodium's rating is mixed (likely safe in pregnancy, possibly unsafe in lactation); pantothenic acid and biotin are likely safe in both; vitamin B6 is likely safe in pregnancy but possibly unsafe at very high doses; vitamin B12 is likely safe in both; inositol is possibly safe in pregnancy but we hold no data for lactation.
Discuss high-dose B6 supplementation with your doctor if you're pregnant.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood pressure medications (sodium and vitamin B6 can reduce their effectiveness), seizure drugs like phenobarbital or phenytoin (high-dose B6 may lower their levels), diabetes medications (inositol may increase low blood sugar risk), lithium (sodium can alter its levels), metformin (B12 may be affected), or any sodium-containing or heart medications like amiodarone. These represent the main medication interactions our data shows for this product's ingredients.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a standard B-complex with added sodium and minerals. It's generally well tolerated, but the sodium content and several B vitamins interact with common medications — especially blood pressure drugs, seizure medications, diabetes medicines, and lithium.
Check your specific medications with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, particularly if you take antihypertensive drugs, phenobarbital, phenytoin, metformin, or any heart or psychiatric medications. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking high-dose supplements, talk it over with your healthcare provider first.

Essential Vitamin B Complex by CATALO Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
CATALO Essential Vitamin B Complex contains sodium, vitamin B6, inositol, and vitamin B12 — ingredients with documented interactions.
The most serious concern is sodium's moderate-severity effect on blood pressure medications: high sodium intake can reduce how well antihypertensive drugs work, and you may need higher doses to control your blood pressure.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Vitamin B6 also interacts moderately with blood pressure medications (additive blood-pressure-lowering effects), seizure medications like phenobarbital and phenytoin (high doses may reduce their effectiveness), and the heart drug amiodarone (may increase sun sensitivity). It has a minor interaction with levodopa when taken alone — though not when levodopa is paired with carbidopa.
Inositol can theoretically raise the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you're on diabetes medications. Vitamin B12 has a minor interaction with metformin, which may lower your B12 levels over time.
Sodium also interacts moderately with corticosteroids (risk of high blood sodium), lithium (sodium changes can alter lithium levels and cause toxicity), didanosine, sodium phosphates, tolvaptan, and other sodium-containing medications. Altogether, these interactions span 329 individual medications.
Pantothenic acid, biotin, and the ingredients we could not fully check (vitamin B1, B2, B3, and folic acid) have either no known interactions or data we don't hold. Run your exact medications through the checker below before starting this product.

For each ingredient in Essential Vitamin B Complex with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Sodium
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, a high intake of dietary sodium might reduce the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs.
High intake of dietary sodium can increase systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Also, high intake of sodium may necessitate increased use of antihypertensive medications to achieve blood pressure control in some patients, such as those with chronic kidney disease.
Corticosteroids
Concomitant use of mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids (corticosteroids) cause sodium retention. This effect is dose-related and depends on mineralocorticoid potency. It is most common with hydrocortisone, cortisone, and fludrocortisone, followed by prednisone and prednisolone.
Didanosine (Videx)
Concomitant use of didanosine with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Didanosine formulations contain a significant amount of sodium.
Lithium
Altering dietary intake of sodium might alter the levels and clinical effects of lithium.
High sodium intake can reduce plasma concentrations of lithium by increasing lithium excretion. Reducing sodium intake can significantly increase plasma concentrations of lithium and cause lithium toxicity in patients being treated with lithium carbonate. Stabilizing sodium intake is shown to reduce the percentage of patients with lithium level fluctuations above 0.8 mEq/L. Patients taking lithium should avoid significant alterations in their dietary intake of sodium.
Sodium Phosphates
Theoretically, concomitant use of sodium phosphate with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Use of high doses (> 45 mL in 24 hours) of sodium phosphate, such as those used for bowel cleansing before surgery, can lead to serious electrolyte disturbances, including hypernatremia. The risk of hypernatremia is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Sodium-Containing Drugs
Concomitant use of sodium-containing drugs with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia and long-term sodium-related complications.
The Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) intake level of 2.3 grams of sodium daily indicates the intake at which it is believed that chronic disease risk increases for the apparently healthy population. Some medications contain high quantities of sodium. When used in conjunction with sodium supplements or high-sodium diets, the CDRR may be exceeded. Additionally, concomitant use may increase the risk for hypernatremia; this risk is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Tolvaptan (Samsca)
Theoretically, concomitant use of tolvaptan with sodium might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Tolvaptan is a vasopressin receptor 2 antagonist that is used to increase sodium levels in patients with hyponatremia. Patients taking tolvaptan should use caution with the use of sodium salts such as sodium chloride.
