Chrysin is generally well tolerated in short-term use, but its long-term safety hasn't been well studied. DIM is also generally well tolerated over the short term, though long-term safety data are lacking.

DIM can cause diarrhea, gas, headache, nausea, rash, and vomiting. A rare serious effect — DRESS (drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms) — has been reported.

One case linked DIM to stroke in a patient with multiple other risk factors, but it's unclear whether DIM played a role. Because safety information during pregnancy is not adequate, this product should be avoided in pregnancy.

The same applies during breastfeeding — there isn't enough data to know whether it's safe.
