This product contains 14 active ingredients designed to help with digestion, especially if you're sensitive to high-FODMAP foods (a diet concern for some people with digestive symptoms). Most are enzymes — natural proteins that break down different parts of food: amylase breaks down starch, lactase breaks down milk sugar, cellulase breaks down plant fiber, and others target different carbohydrates and complex molecules.
The blend also includes two probiotics, Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus clausii, which are live microorganisms thought to support gut health. One ingredient, lactase, has enough research to be called effective for lactose intolerance (difficulty digesting milk).

Strong evidence
Lactase in this product is effective for lactose intolerance — it helps you digest milk sugar if your body doesn't make enough of its own lactase enzyme. The other 13 ingredients haven't been rated; we don't have enough reliable evidence on file to say whether they work for the purposes they're included in.

How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactase is generally well tolerated, and the data shows it's likely safe in pregnancy and lactation, though you should check with your doctor before regular use while pregnant. Bacillus subtilis is generally well tolerated in healthy adults, but the data on file is limited, so ask your doctor before using it — rare cases of headache and, very rarely, diarrhea have been reported in studies.
One occupational case of an allergic reaction (contact dermatitis and allergic rhinitis) to powdered lactase was documented in a worker, though this is uncommon. Safety data for the other 11 ingredients isn't on file, so discuss those with your pharmacist if you have concerns.

Formula
FODMAP DPE is a specialized blend of spore-forming probiotics and digestive enzymes that assists the body in properly digesting highly fermentable foods, commonly known as FODMAPs (Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides, and Polyols). Garlic, onions, apples, and many other nutrient dense foods can be very hard for some to digest. By limiting digestive fermentation, FODMAP DPE eases symptoms like gas, bloating, constipation and other digestive discomforts that occur from enjoying FODMAP foods.

Theoretically, taking Bacillus subtilis with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. subtilis.
Since B. subtilis preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. subtilis preparations by at least 2 hours.
