What’s inside
Full disclosure
GABA Calm contains one active ingredient: GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), a natural compound your brain uses to help you relax. The capsule also contains gelatin as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Not established
We don't have reliable evidence that GABA supplements work for anxiety, ADHD, athletic performance, cerebral palsy, or chronic bronchitis. The evidence for all of those is rated insufficient right now — meaning the research so far hasn't proven it does what the label says it will.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
GABA appears to be generally well tolerated when taken by mouth short-term. The most common side effects reported in trials include drowsiness, nausea, stomach upset, minor throat burning, and muscle weakness.
The safety facts we hold note that long-term safety hasn't been studied well, and there isn't enough information to recommend it during pregnancy. Because of insufficient safety data, the facts advise against use while breastfeeding unless your doctor says otherwise.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your blood pressure medications (antihypertensives) and any sedating drugs — including sleep aids, benzodiazepines, and some pain relievers — before taking this product. These are the only medication types with documented interactions in our data for GABA.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take blood pressure medications or sedating drugs, check with your pharmacist before adding GABA Calm — the interactions are real and worth confirming. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor first; the safety data is thin.
For anyone else curious about it for anxiety or focus, keep in mind the evidence for those uses isn't established yet.

GABA Calm by Earthborn Elements Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
GABA Calm by Earthborn Elements contains a single active ingredient, GABA, that we've found interactions data for.
The most serious concern is with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives). GABA may lower blood pressure on its own, and combining it with drugs that already do that could push your pressure too low and cause dizziness or fainting.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The second documented interaction is with central nervous system (CNS) depressants — that's drugs like sedatives, sleep aids, alcohol, and some pain relievers. GABA might add to their sedating effects, though it's not entirely clear how much of a real-world problem this is in practice.
Additionally, no interactions are documented beyond those two categories. Altogether, these interactions span 417 individual medications.
Before you start this product, run your blood pressure drugs and any sedating medications through the checker below to see if you're affected.

GABA
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, taking GABA with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Some clinical research shows that GABA can decrease blood pressure in patients with hypertension.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, GABA might have additive sedative effects when used in conjunction with CNS depressants. However, it is unclear if this concern is clinically relevant.
Endogenous GABA has well-established relaxant effects and GABA(A) receptors have an established physiological role in sleep. However, the effects of GABA supplements are unclear, as it is unknown whether exogenous GABA crosses the blood-brain barrier. Although there have been limited reports of drowsiness or tiredness with GABA supplements, these effects have not been widely reported in clinical studies. Additionally, intravenous GABA 0.1-1 mg/kg has been shown to induce anxiety in a dose-dependent manner.
