Gluta-Lyn 1500 contains one active ingredient: glutamine (in the form GlutaLean®). Glutamine is an amino acid that your body uses for muscle and gut function, and it's especially relevant during recovery from surgery, critical illness, or conditions like sickle cell disease and HIV-related muscle wasting.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients—gelatin (the capsule shell), maltodextrin, and magnesium stearate—which are standard excipients.

Moderate evidence
The evidence for glutamine is strongest for sickle cell disease, where it's rated effective. For HIV-related muscle wasting, postoperative recovery, and critical illness from trauma, the evidence is rated possibly effective—meaning there's some support but it's not definitive.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Glutamine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults when taken by mouth. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal: belching, bloating, constipation, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain.
Headache and musculoskeletal pain have also been reported. At higher doses (10–30 grams daily), these GI symptoms are more likely.
Two cases of mania or hypomania have been reported in people with bipolar disorder taking up to 4 grams daily. If you have kidney or liver disease, use only under medical supervision.
Pregnancy safety is rated likely safe. However, there isn't enough reliable data on safety during breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether to use it while nursing.
