Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: shilajit pitch extract. Shilajit is a mineral-rich substance that has been used traditionally; the extract form concentrates its active compounds.
There are no inactive ingredients listed for this powder, so you're getting shilajit and nothing else.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for shilajit in our data doesn't yet establish whether it works for any of the conditions it's promoted for — Alzheimer's disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and osteopenia all show insufficient reliable evidence to rate. That means human research isn't strong enough yet to say one way or the other.
If you're considering it for any of these, talk with your doctor about whether there's a reason to try it in your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though rare side effects in research include headache. More importantly, unpurified shilajit products can contain heavy metals or other contaminants, so stick with purified, tested brands like this one.
During pregnancy, there isn't enough safety data — the product label advises against it. One case report linked shilajit use during pregnancy to a serious blood pressure problem, though it's unclear if shilajit was the cause.
While breastfeeding, safety is unknown, so avoid it. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor before using this product.
A rare case of severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) has been reported, so stop and seek emergency care if you develop hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing after taking it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist if you take antidiabetes drugs (blood sugar medications like metformin or glibenclamide). Shilajit may lower your blood sugar further and raise the risk of hypoglycemia.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Shilajit might appeal to someone interested in traditional mineral supplements, but the effectiveness evidence isn't established yet in our data. If you take any blood sugar medication — especially metformin or glibenclamide — you need to check with your pharmacist first because of the risk of low blood sugar.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Skip it.
Always use a purified, tested product to avoid heavy metal contamination.

Shilajit Pitch Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
