What is this page for?

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of HMF Forte by Genestra Brands
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
HMF Forte contains five active ingredients: fructooligosaccharides (a type of fiber that feeds beneficial bacteria), and four live probiotic strains—Lactobacillus acidophilus (two different strains), Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis, and Bifidobacterium bifidum. These probiotics are meant to support your gut bacteria balance.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients including cellulose, hypromellose, silica, and sunflower lecithin.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The probiotic strains in this product are rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea. Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis is also rated possibly effective for respiratory tract infections and constipation.
Lactobacillus acidophilus strains are rated possibly effective for Helicobacter pylori infection and bacterial vaginosis. For fructooligosaccharides, the evidence isn't established in our data for conditions like osteoporosis, constipation, diabetes, travelers' diarrhea, or high cholesterol.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotic strains in HMF Forte are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. However, fructooligosaccharides can cause gas, bloating, abdominal pain, and flatulence, especially at higher doses—though research shows doses under 10 grams per day are usually mild.
Probiotics may rarely cause gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, diarrhea, or abdominal discomfort when taken together. Because supplement-level dosing hasn't been thoroughly studied, check with your doctor before starting.
Pregnancy data for these probiotics are limited; lactation data are not on file. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the main medication type to watch for. Since HMF Forte contains live probiotics that antibiotics can kill, taking them together may reduce the probiotic's effectiveness.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you need to space these apart or adjust your timing.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
HMF Forte is a multi-strain probiotic supplement that may help with IBS, antibiotic-related diarrhea, and possibly other gut and respiratory health concerns, though the evidence for some uses is limited. The main concern is taking it with antibiotics—the drugs can reduce how well the probiotics work.
If you're on any medications or have a weakened immune system, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product.
