For this product's main ingredients, the evidence is limited. The 5-LOXIN extract (Boswellia serrata) is rated possibly effective for osteoarthritis, which is the condition most people take joint supplements for.
Hyaluronic acid is rated possibly effective for dry eye and venous leg ulcers, but for skin aging and other uses the evidence isn't established. For the other active ingredients in this blend—Methylsulfonylmethane, Total Collagen, UC-II Standardized Cartilage, and Mervia—we don't have effectiveness ratings in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Orally, hyaluronic acid and Boswellia serrata extract are generally well tolerated, though long-term safety of either supplement hasn't been fully studied. The most common side effects from Boswellia are stomach upset (abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, heartburn) and headache; a small number of people report dizziness or itching.
One rare case of a large stomach obstruction (bezoar) was reported in someone who chewed and swallowed large amounts of boswellia gum resin. For pregnancy and breastfeeding: Boswellia serrata is rated likely safe in pregnancy and lactation based on the data we hold, but hyaluronic acid has insufficient safety data for oral use in pregnancy and lactation—talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant or nursing.

5-LOXIN
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might increase the levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata gum resin inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might increase the levels of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata gum resin inhibits CYP2C19 enzymes.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might increase the levels of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata gum resin inhibits CYP2C9 enzymes.
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata gum resin inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might increase or decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata gum resin inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Other in vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes at most concentrations, although it may modestly induce enzyme activity at low concentrations.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might alter the effects of immunosuppressive drugs.
Some in vitro research suggests that Boswellia serrata extracts might inhibit mediators of autoimmune disorders such as leukotrienes and reduce production of antibodies and cell-mediated immunity. However, other in vitro research suggests that, when coupled with calcium ions, boswellic acids containing the keto group have immunostimulant properties within specific cell signaling pathways.
