HelloPharmacist Scorecard of L-Citrulline 760 mg by tnvitamins
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: L-citrulline at 760 mg per capsule. L-Citrulline is an amino acid that your body converts to L-arginine, which plays a role in blood vessel function and blood flow.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — gelatin, rice powder, vegetable magnesium stearate, and silica — which serve as the capsule shell and flow agents.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for L-Citrulline is mixed. It's rated Possibly Effective for athletic performance, meaning some evidence suggests it may help, but the data is not conclusive.
For sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss), it's rated Possibly Ineffective. For cardiovascular disease, heart failure, Reye syndrome, and diabetes, we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate it one way or the other.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-Citrulline is generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though long-term safety hasn't been fully studied. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — stomach discomfort and heartburn.
A small number of people with pulmonary hypertension reported cough when taking it. Because there isn't enough safety data in pregnancy, the data advises against taking it while pregnant.
Safety while breastfeeding is unknown, so supplemental use is not advised during that time either.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take L-Citrulline, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on any blood pressure medication or phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (erectile dysfunction drugs). Both carry a Moderate risk of additive blood-vessel widening and dangerous low blood pressure when combined with this product.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
L-Citrulline may be worth considering if you're interested in athletic performance support and don't take blood pressure or erectile dysfunction medications. If you do take either of those drug types, you'll need to talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist first — the combination could cause your blood pressure to drop too much.
Anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other medications should check with their own healthcare provider before starting.

L-Citrulline 760 mg by tnvitamins Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
L-Citrulline 760 mg by tnvitamins interacts with two major drug types: blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs) and erectile dysfunction medications (phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors).
The most serious concern is a Moderate-severity interaction with blood pressure drugs. L-Citrulline converts to L-arginine in your body, which widens your blood vessels and lowers blood pressure.
If you're already taking a blood pressure medication, adding L-citrulline could lower your pressure too much.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors — drugs like sildenafil (Viagra) and tadalafil (Cialis) — work similarly by widening blood vessels. Taking L-citrulline alongside them carries a Moderate risk of additive blood-vessel relaxation and a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
Additionally, if you take other medications not listed here, use the interaction checker below to search your exact drugs. Altogether, these interactions span 178 individual medications.

L-Citrulline
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of L-citrulline with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the chance of hypotension.
L-citrulline is converted to L-arginine, which can increase nitric oxide and cause vasodilation. However, a meta-analysis of 5 small clinical studies suggests that taking L-citrulline 3-6 grams daily for 1-8 weeks does not lower blood pressure when compared with control.
Phosphodiesterase-5 Inhibitors
Theoretically, concurrent use of phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5) inhibitors and L-citrulline might result in additive vasodilation.
L-citrulline is converted to L-arginine, which can increase nitric oxide and cause vasodilation. Theoretically, taking L-arginine with PDE-5 inhibitors might have additive vasodilatory and hypotensive effects. However, in studies evaluating the combined use of L-arginine and sildenafil for erectile dysfunction, hypotension was not reported.
