Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: L-glutamine, an amino acid your body makes naturally and uses for gut health, immune function, and muscle recovery. There are no other inactive ingredients listed.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports this product's ingredients for its stated purpose, but it isn't conclusive.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Supports lean muscle growth and immune function.
  • We looked for evidence on: Athletic performance, Exercise-induced muscle damage, Postoperative recovery, Wound healing, Critical illness (trauma), HIV/AIDS-related wasting — and 4 related terms.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Glutamine is rated "Possibly Effective" for HIV/AIDS-related wasting (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Glutamine is rated "Possibly Effective" for Critical illness (trauma), Postoperative recovery.
  • Also on file: Glutamine is rated "Possibly Ineffective" for Athletic performance, Radiation-induced diarrhea.

L-Glutamine is effective for sickle cell disease. It's possibly effective for HIV/AIDS-related wasting, postoperative recovery (healing after surgery), and critical illness from trauma.

The evidence for those last three uses is less certain, so talk with your doctor about whether it's the right choice for your situation.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

L-Glutamine is generally well tolerated by healthy adults. The most common side effects are digestive—belching, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, and nausea—along with headache and musculoskeletal pain.

If you have kidney or liver disease, use it only under medical supervision. Don't take supplemental doses while pregnant or breastfeeding unless your doctor advises it—the safety data isn't complete enough yet.

Two cases of mood changes (mania and hypomania) have been reported in people with bipolar disorder taking glutamine, so mention this supplement to your doctor if you have a mood disorder.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Glutamine.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: seizure medications.
  • For scale: 50 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

If you take anticonvulsant medications (drugs to prevent seizures), check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product—glutamine may theoretically reduce how well they work, though this hasn't been seen in people yet. No other medication interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check.

Formulation

L-Glutamine is an essential amino acid that is naturally produced in the body. L-Glutamine may help in the synthesis of proteins, providing energy to cells, regulating kidney function, and transporting ammonia throught the circulatory system. There could be a number of factors that can deplete the natural supply of L-Glutamine in the body like stress, intense exercise, etc. People who are subject to these factors may take L-Glutamine supplements to replenish their body's supply of L-Glutamine in an order to provide extra fuel for their immune system and muscles. In addition, L-Glutamine may also help to improve strength, energy, and recovery from high intense workouts.
