Mature Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Allergy Research Group Essential-Biotic
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Mature against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Low disclosure
This capsule contains 6 active ingredients: four species of Bifidobacterium (bifidum, longum, breve, and lactis), two species of Lactobacillus (acidophilus and plantarum), all delivered as live beneficial bacteria. These are probiotics—microorganisms meant to support the bacteria naturally found in your digestive tract.
The formula also includes inactive ingredients like cellulose, gellan gum, and fructooligosaccharide to hold the capsule together and maintain the viability of the organisms.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these probiotics varies by condition. Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, Helicobacter pylori infection, and bacterial vaginosis, though the data aren't conclusive.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections. For Bifidobacterium longum and Bifidobacterium breve, the data on most conditions are not yet established in our holdings.
The bottom line: there's some evidence these probiotics may help with certain digestive and infection-related issues, but more research is needed on many of their uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. The most commonly reported side effects are mild gastrointestinal symptoms—bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and occasionally diarrhea or vomiting—though these are uncommon.
A rare but serious concern exists: in critically ill or severely immunocompromised patients, these live organisms have in rare cases caused bloodstream infections (bacteremia) or sepsis. Most of the people in clinical trials did not experience problems.
If you have a weakened immune system, are critically ill, or have recently had surgery involving heart valves or other major procedures, check with your doctor before starting this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, you need to coordinate the timing with this product—don't take them at the same time, because antibiotics may kill the live organisms in the supplement. Ask your doctor or pharmacist when to take each one.
If you have a compromised immune system or are critically ill, discuss this product with your healthcare provider before starting.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic blend may help if you're dealing with certain digestive issues or antibiotic-related side effects, and it's generally well tolerated by healthy people. If you're on antibiotics, you'll need to space out when you take this product—talk to your doctor or pharmacist about the right timing.
Anyone who is seriously ill, immune-compromised, or recovering from major surgery should check with their healthcare provider before using it.

Mature by Allergy Research Group Essential-Biotic Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Allergy Research Group Essential-Biotic contains several probiotic bacteria—Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium longum, and Bifidobacterium breve—that all interact with one major drug class.
The most serious concern is with antibiotic drugs (a Moderate severity interaction): since these probiotics are live, active organisms, taking them at the same time as antibiotics might kill off a large number of the beneficial bacteria in the supplement, reducing how well it works. You'll want to separate when you take them—talk to your doctor or pharmacist about the right timing.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
We could not check Bifidobacterium lactis UABla-12 and Lactobacillus plantarum UALp-05, so we hold no interaction data for them. For the other ingredients we were able to review, antibiotic drugs are the only medication type with documented interactions in our data.
