What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Natural Chlorophyll against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product has 2 active ingredients. Chlorophyllin is a semi-synthetic form of chlorophyll, the green pigment in plants, and is the main active component here.
The other ingredient is thymol, a compound derived from thyme. The tablet also contains several inactive ingredients — sorbitol, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, and spearmint and peppermint flavorings — which help form and flavor the tablet.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for chlorophyllin's effectiveness is mixed. For urinary odor, the data suggests it's likely not effective.
For acne, cancer prevention, constipation, flatulence, and low white blood cell count (leukopenia), we don't have reliable evidence to rate how well it works. We hold no effectiveness data for thymol.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chlorophyllin is generally well tolerated in the short term, but quality evidence and long-term safety data are limited. Because chlorophyll (the natural source) can cause photosensitivity — making your skin more prone to sun damage — and has been linked in case reports to pseudoporphyria (a blistering condition), caution is warranted, especially with prolonged use.
Topical chlorophyll cream has also been reported to cause dermatitis. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and breastfeeding because there isn't enough reliable information to know it's safe.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take any photosensitizing drugs — medications that increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight. Chlorophyllin may add to this effect.
We couldn't check the product's other ingredient (thymol) for interactions, so mention all your medications when you review this product with your healthcare provider.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Natural Chlorophyll by Rugby might appeal to you if you're exploring traditional remedies, but the evidence for what it actually does is weak or unclear for most uses. If you take any medications — especially ones that make you sun-sensitive — check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Pregnant people and those breastfeeding should avoid it. Have a conversation with your own healthcare provider about whether this fits your health goals.
