Optimal Floral Plus Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Optimal Floral Plus against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Optimal Floral Plus by OHS Optimal Health Systems
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Optimal Floral Plus contains 21 active ingredients: a mix of digestive enzymes (lactase, lipase, cellulase, phytase, amylase, invertase, and proteases), live-culture probiotics (Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species, Streptococcus thermophilus, Bacillus coagulans, and others), and supporting ingredients like malt diastase and Jerusalem artichoke. The inactive ingredients are rice flour, hypromellose (a capsule material), rice hull concentrate, magnesium stearate, and trace minerals (zinc, copper, manganese).
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The evidence for this product's ingredients is mixed. Lactase is effective for lactose intolerance.
Several probiotics—Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bacillus coagulans—are possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and related digestive concerns; L. acidophilus and B. bifidum also show possible effectiveness for antibiotic-associated diarrhea and bacterial vaginosis. However, for many of the other uses these ingredients have been studied for—such as constipation, allergic rhinitis, diabetes, and various infections—the evidence is insufficient to rate them.
The effectiveness data we hold does not cover all 21 ingredients.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactase and Lactobacillus acidophilus are generally well tolerated in healthy people. The other probiotics and enzymes are also generally well tolerated in adults without weakened immune systems, though digestive side effects like bloating, flatulence, and mild abdominal discomfort have been reported with probiotic use.
Rare serious infections (bacteremia and sepsis) from probiotics have occurred, but almost entirely in severely ill or immunocompromised patients with central lines or in premature infants; healthy people with intact immune systems face minimal risk. Protease enzymes may cause digestive upset or allergic reactions in some people.
Phytase has caused occupational asthma and hypersensitivity pneumonitis with airborne exposure in industrial settings, but supplemental exposure via capsule carries no reported cases. Pregnancy and breastfeeding data are limited across most ingredients; check with your doctor or pharmacist before use if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, space them at least 2–3 hours apart from Optimal Floral Plus so the medication doesn't inactivate the live probiotic organisms. No other medication interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a digestive enzyme and probiotic blend. It may help with IBS and lactose intolerance, though evidence varies by ingredient.
If you take antibiotics, separate them from this product by a few hours so the antibiotics don't kill the live cultures. People with healthy immune systems generally tolerate it well; those with severe illness or weakened immunity should check with their doctor first.
Ask your pharmacist before starting if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or take any regular medications.

Since B. bifidum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. bifidum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bacillus coagulans
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking antibiotics with Bacillus coagulans might decrease the effectiveness of B. coagulans.
B. coagulans preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. coagulans preparations by at least two hours.
Lactobacillus acidophilus DDS-1
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
