Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: oregano leaf glycerite liquid extract. It's a concentrated extract made by dissolving oregano leaves in glycerin—a sweetish liquid that acts as both solvent and preservative.
The only other ingredient is glycerin itself, which is an inactive carrier.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold on oregano doesn't establish that it works reliably for any condition. For acne, bronchitis, asthma, headache, and upper respiratory tract infection, the available research is insufficient to rate its effectiveness.
If you're considering it for a specific health concern, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to see what the current evidence suggests.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Oregano is well tolerated when eaten as a food seasoning. This liquid extract is more concentrated than typical culinary amounts, and safety data for supplement doses is limited.
The most common side effect from oral use is stomach upset. Rarely, people with sensitivity to plants in the mint family (Lamiaceae) have had serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, after ingesting oregano.
Avoid medicinal doses during pregnancy; food amounts are likely fine. While breastfeeding, stick to normal food amounts—safety of oregano supplements while nursing isn't established.
If you have a known allergy to oregano, thyme, basil, or other mint-family plants, be cautious.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this oregano extract, double-check your blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (anticoagulants, aspirin, clopidogrel, and similar ones) and your diabetes medications with your pharmacist or doctor. Even though oregano is a common food, concentrated supplement forms may carry a higher risk of affecting how these drugs work.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
TerraVita Oregano Leaf is generally well tolerated as a food-derived supplement, but it's not proven effective for any specific condition we have data on. If you take blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs, or diabetes medications, you'll need to check this product against your exact prescriptions before starting.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it fits your situation and how to use it safely alongside any medications you take.
