What’s inside
Full disclosure
Nova Nutritions Pregnenolone 30 mg is a single-ingredient tablet containing pregnenolone, a hormone precursor your body naturally makes. The tablet also includes several inactive ingredients: dicalcium phosphate, cellulose, silica, vegetable stearate, stearic acid, and croscarmellose sodium, which help bind and stabilize the tablet.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for pregnenolone's effectiveness hasn't been reliably established in the data we hold. Effectiveness ratings for the conditions studied—including alcohol use disorder, Alzheimer disease, autism spectrum disorder, back pain, and bipolar disorder—all show insufficient reliable evidence to rate whether it actually works for these uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pregnenolone is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth, though it's a hormone with limited human safety data, so use only under guidance from a healthcare professional. Common side effects reported in studies include acne, agitation, diarrhea, drowsiness, excitement, hair loss, skin abscess, sweating, and tremor.
Less common reports include depressive mood, increased appetite, skin rash with burning (possibly related to sun sensitivity), and anorexia; it's unclear if all of these were directly caused by the supplement. During pregnancy, hormone supplements carry unknown risks and should be avoided.
During breastfeeding, there isn't enough safety information available, so it should also be avoided. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take estrogens (including hormonal birth control), benzodiazepines (sedatives), progestins, testosterone, or progesterone. Pregnenolone may enhance the effects of these hormones or weaken sedatives, and the outcome could vary depending on your dose and other factors.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Pregnenolone is a hormone precursor that may interact with several medication types—most notably hormonal birth control, hormone therapy, and sedatives. Because it's a hormone with limited safety data in humans, it's best taken only under guidance from a healthcare professional.
If you take any prescription medications, especially hormonal or sedative drugs, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this supplement.

Formula
Pregnenolone is naturally produced in the body. Its main role is as a progenitor hormone for the biosynthesis of other hormones (such as Progesterone, DHEA, cortisol and other sex hormones). Pregnenolone itself, also has substantial neurocognitvie (brain processing) effects. As we age, many biosynthetic pathways diminish and we experience the effects of hormonal insufficiencies. Supplementing with Pregnenolone can support hormone levels and healthy aging.
Precautions
Caution: For adults only, do not use if you are pregnant or nursing. Do not exceed recommended serving. Exceeding recommended serving may cause serious adverse health effects. Possible side effects include acne, hair loss, hair growth on the face (in women), aggressiveness, irritability, and increased levels of estrogen. Discontinue use and call a physician or licensed qualified health care professional immediately if you experience rapid heartbeat, dizziness, blurred vision, or other similar symptoms.
Keep out of the reach of children.

Pregnenolone 30 mg by Nova Nutritions Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Nova Nutritions Pregnenolone 30 mg interacts with several medication types through its single active ingredient.
The most serious concerns are Moderate-severity interactions with estrogens, benzodiazepines, progestins, testosterone, and progesterone—all of which may be affected because pregnenolone is a hormone precursor that your body can convert into these compounds.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
With estrogens, progestins, testosterone, and progesterone, pregnenolone may theoretically enhance their effects. For testosterone specifically, early research at this dose (30–500 mg daily for up to 8 weeks) didn't show changes in testosterone levels in people, but theory suggests caution.
Progesterone's response may depend on the dose you take—some studies show pregnenolone can raise progesterone levels, while others show no change.
Benzodiazepines (sedatives like diazepam) are a separate concern: very early research suggests chronic pregnenolone use may weaken their sedative effects, possibly through its activity at GABA receptors in the brain.
Altogether, these interactions span 82 individual medications. Before starting pregnenolone, check your exact prescriptions—especially any hormonal birth control, hormone replacement therapy, testosterone, progesterone, or sedatives—with your doctor or pharmacist.

For each ingredient in Pregnenolone 30 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Pregnenolone
Benzodiazepines
Concomitant use of pregnenolone may reduce the effects of benzodiazepines.
Very preliminary clinical research shows that chronic use of pregnenolone reduces sedative effects of diazepam when compared with chronic use of placebo. This effect may be related to the activity of pregnenolone at GABAA receptors.
Estrogens
Theoretically, taking pregnenolone might enhance the effects of estrogens.
Pregnenolone is a precursor for several steroid hormones, including estrogens.
Progesterone
Theoretically, taking pregnenolone might enhance the effects of progesterone.
In humans, some research shows that oral administration of pregnenolone can increase levels of progesterone. However, other research shows no effect on progesterone levels. It is possible the impact of pregnenolone on progesterone levels may be dose dependent.
Progestin
Theoretically, taking pregnenolone might enhance the effects of progestin.
Pregnenolone is a precursor for several steroid hormones, including progestin.
Testosterone
Theoretically, taking pregnenolone might enhance the effects of testosterone.
Pregnenolone is a precursor for several steroid hormones, including testosterone. However, preliminary clinical research shows that taking pregnenolone 30-500 mg orally daily for up to 8 weeks does not affect testosterone levels.
