Probiotic Complete Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic Complete against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic Complete by Woodstock Vitamins
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product has 4 ingredients, two of which are active probiotics. Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum are live, beneficial bacteria meant to support your gut health.
The other two active ingredients — Lactobacillus plantarum and HOWARU Bifido — are also probiotics. The inactive ingredients are the capsule and fillers like cellulose and magnesium stearate.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
For Bifidobacterium longum, we don't have enough reliable evidence yet to rate it for the conditions listed — that includes antibiotic-associated diarrhea, anxiety, asthma, and others. We hold no effectiveness data for the other two ingredients.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Bifidobacterium longum is also generally well tolerated but needs caution in people who are seriously ill or have weak immune systems — and the safety data are limited, so talk with your doctor before using it while breastfeeding.
Both can occasionally cause mild gut symptoms like bloating, gas, abdominal pain, or diarrhea, though these are uncommon. In rare cases, live probiotic bacteria have caused serious infections in vulnerable patients, particularly in premature infants and people on life support.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the main thing to watch for — taking them at the same time as this probiotic can make the probiotic less effective. If you're on antibiotics, separate the doses and ask your pharmacist how far apart to take them.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic might help with irritable bowel syndrome or antibiotic-related diarrhea if you take Lactobacillus acidophilus. Be careful if you're taking antibiotics — separate them from this product.
If you're seriously ill, immune-compromised, or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor first. Check your medications with the tool on this page before you start.

Formula
30 billion CFU probiotic
Probiotic complete is a vegetarian, dairy- and gluten-free, four-strain probiotic totaling 30 billion CFU per capsule. Each vegetarian capsule is sealed in nitrogen-purged aluminum blister packs to serve as protection from factors proven to compromise stability of probiotics such as heat, moisture, and oxygen. Probiotic complete provides four researched strains of beneficial bacteria, including an extensively studied HN019 strain of Bifidobacterium lactis. To further support resistance to low pH and the delivery of microorganisms to the small intestines, Village Vitality employs DRcaps gastro-resistant capsules.
